I am a very passionate chemist who loves the whole genre of science communication, both via the general public and schools. I have been involved with local science fairs for many years and now run my own science promotion company in my spare time. As highly active member of the RSC, my work spreads in my local section committee and I am now starting to work with schools and my local county council. This is now allowing me to spread my ideas and outreach activities to all aspects of science communication, which I now would like to pursue full time. I am very keen to promote science to children under 16 and their parents, as I wanted to be a chemist when I was 9, and parents need to be informed and supportive during any educational interests there children may undertake. Most of all I enjoy all aspects of science and it is passed over to schools and the public which is the most rewarding part.

I am always looking for new events, but due to demand I am also looking for employment opportunities in outreach based work to free up spare time to pursue other outreach activities as well as studying to learn more about science communication and its impact on society.
For all types of outreach activities undertaken by myself, please visit http://www.marblingmadness.com to get an insight to my freelance communication role. For a typical working week as a chemist at a fuel and water company, please visit http://www.kittiwake.com for more information.

A brief description of my work includes running a science communication company, which does not charge organisers expenses, or fees. Costs are recovered by selling kits based on workshop activities (such as eco friendly paper marbling, glowsticks and bath bombs) to people who attend events, and website sales fund new projects and other events which may arise. To get a detailed idea of my interests and events, please again feel free to visit http://www.marblingmadness.com for all the information you need plus other websites, which may be of interest to you.

As a highly active Chartered Chemist and member of the RSC, I a now involved with local schools with other outreach activities such as school chemistry kits, careers evenings and promotion of the RSC to the public as well as chemistry. I am very keen to find employment in this sector, so I can then study for a masters degree and subsequent PhD in science communication in my spare time, inside of juggling between two jobs as well as RSC activities which are just as important in the promotion of science/chemistry to the public.

I have also worked for a fuel and water company for nearly nine years, which supplies testing kits and equipment to a whole range of domestic and industrial applications. These range from monitoring water in oil, gearbox conditioning on wind turbines and chlorine in swimming pools. This results in a whole range of process from both liquid and powder manufacturing, which is also an interesting subject for more public engagement, and careers evenings with schools. This gives a solid platform to provide passion, innovation and science communication to a wide audience from all backgrounds both from the public and science areas, which is also supported by the RSC.
