Isotope forums

Becoming increasingly interested in citizen's assemblies, or deliberative democracy as a vehicle for involving the public in science policy decisions. I would like to see the network of science centres in Canada become the stage for such events.

Isotope interests

My research interests lie primarily in understanding and evaluating the learning impact of science centres and similar free-choice learning environments on families and children. This field has evolved significantly in the last decade and we are just beginning to appreciate the learning processes that are evident in the informal interactions that occur within social spaces like science centres. A better understanding of these learning processes will lead to better exhibit and program design to maximize their learning potential and as a result, better engage the public in science and scientific research.
